Marina & The Diamons just appeared and the hype seems to be spreading… some similarities to Kate Bush and a marvelous EP with three songs are enough to lauch Marina Diamandis to the top! The EP ‘The Crown Jewels’ just came out on Neon Gold records and it features the awsome “I Am Not A Robot” (some fantastic remixes are all over the web), the big pop “Seventeen” and “Simplify”. This release was preceded by a 7″ single that featured dramatic “Obsessions” as A-side and the powerpop “Mowgli’s Road” as B-Side. in fact, Marina & The Diamonds tend to work on both sides, the dramatic dark songs and the poppy enlightened ones, which seems to work out pretty fine… This lady might be next pop queen in the UK, so you better keep an eye on her.

With a few listens you understand that she’s not that flimsy and she knows exactly what she’s saying and doing; despite her tender age, she’s a full-grown woman with things to tell… Songs like ‘Quand La Soleil Fond’, ‘Mayfly Maddy’, ‘The Mechanical Girl’ or ‘Delight’ cannot just be accidents; she’s a great composer and performer ready to be shown to the world.
